vom Haus Engel - kennel history

Mr. Miodrag Stevanovic - MiskoMy name is Stevanovic Miodrag, for friends Misko. I was born in 1939 in the city of Nis (Serbia). I always loved dogs, but because of other preoccupations in my life never took then seriously. As a boy i played football for ten years, after that i was in music business. In 1989 i went to visit  a friend with whom i was  not in touch for years, and standing in front of the gate i spotted two beautiful dogs, two rottweilers.I looked at them and felt incredible admiration for that beauty animal which enchanted me.

After a long talk about rottweilers i showed interesent in having a male puppy from the next litter. In that moment he did not have any,so i needed to wait twenty days to have the best puppy. After that perod  my friend Miki Stojanovic called me and told me to come to his place and pick up the dog. That is how i got my first rottweiler, Edi. I became a member of kennel club. I found all necessary literature about rottweilers and learned a lot about that breed. On his first dog show in Nis he was vallied with four out of five marks, his only flaw was a bad ear posture. On that dog show there were presented the best dogs and the winner was Nando Mali Medvjed. My wife and i liked that dog  a lot and decided to buy his female puppy.

We followed advertisements in magazine Zov and after 2 months we found out that kennel "Vom Granitkopf", was selling Nando Mali Medvjed and Helga Vom Granitkopf´s puppies. I went to Leskovac  to take female puppy called Meri vom Granitkopf, who grew up with our care and lots of love .

When she was only 13 months old i took her on dog show in Paracin. Meanwhile i learned everything necessary about racing dogs and worked on all tips of walk (working). To our biggest surprise, in competition with other 16 young beaches, Meri vom Granitkopf took the first place and the (youth winner) title champion ship of race she was second behind FIRST who was  imported from Germany, just  a month before. After the show many famous growers wanted  to know her origen and even offered a good price for her, which we refused. One of them was judge Milan Zivancevic who said he would like to have beach like that in his kennel. During that season we took her seven times on federal dog shows and each time she was PRM.Next season she went on six dog shows, on five was first and one second place. With two years we paired her with Iwan Vom Granitkopf the son of Willi vom Hause Neubrand who was for four years head breeding dog in Germany. From that litter i got the best puppy Ana .In the mean time i prepared all necessary papers to register my own kennel called "VOM HAUS ENGEL" as a result Ana got a pedigree as a first puppy with kennels name Ana vom Haus Engel. When competitions started, and i got older, my grandson Dusan Kuglar took over responsibility of handling, so i could concentrate only on training. We discovered that Dusan had a great talent for handling. Ana vom Haus Engel has participated thrice in juniors and on all 3 occasions was champion of youth class three times CAC and once R.CAC.

When Meri vom Granitkopf was hot after having Ana vom Haus Engel, the owner of  kennel "Vom Granitkopf", Dragan Stojkovic insisted on pairing Iwan Von Granitkopf and Meri vom Granitkopf again. From that litter I got the best puppy, Ben von Haus Engel, who grew in a very beautiful dog. I remember once training in Nis, where all rottweiler memebers from Nis Club took their dogs out, I got many compliments for Ben von Haus Engel. Aside from his beauty and his unexcelled moves, he ran so smoothly and easy. We worked a lot with him. Every second morning on the bicycle I passed with him almost ten klm around city station and in the afternoons my grandson and his friend Miljan Stojanovic worked on ring walk. In 2001 the CACIB exhibition took place in Nis. Before it sterted the judge said that rottweilers are working dogs an  a side from their beauty, they have to move well, that’s why the winner is the one who stays last. The audience gathered and the race began. There were eight candidates in the ring, and after eight minutes “Morro Vom Haus Marker” stopped, the judge decided to eliminate him and that’s  how one by one all the dogs were eliminated except “Kris” and Ben Von Haus Engel. Those two ran like gazelle’s for 25 min. During the race many handlers were changed but Dusan ran the entire course without any help. He was only 14 years old and actively played football. After 5-6 min, Kris stopped and that left only Dusan and Ben Von Haus Engel in the ring who continued running. At that moment the judge’s commentary was this is the the future of our kinology. I haven’t seen such a syncrony between guide and dog for a long time. When the exhibition was over many breeders enquired about Ben Von Haus Engel. In his career Ben Von Haus Engel won 3 times in youth class, 14 x CAC, 4 x BOB, 1 x CACIB, second place in Balkan Sieger.

The next litter of Meri vom Granitkopf was with Falco Vom Sittard, junior world champion, son of Noris Von Grutenblick, the best rottweiler of all time. From that pair have got only one puppy Roki von Haus Engel. After initial misgivings I could not resist him, so Roki Von Haus Engel stayed with us and become forth dog in our kennel. He grew in to a very big and strong dog with a height of 67 cm. Roki von Haus Engel had 4 x Youth Winner, 2 x BOB, 3 x CAC. I have to say that all 4 dogs passed work examinations and they were all junior and senior champions of ex Yugoslavia. We have had so many offers to sell them but all were refused and the dogs stayed with us during their life, till the moment came to say good bye them.

First Meri vom Granitkopf died with 10 years, then Ana vom Haus Engel with 11, after her Roki von Haus Engel  with 12 and in the end the most beloved Ben von Haus Engel who brought us joy during 13 years. We missed them all a lot. Because of my age and failing health I decided not to breed anymore puppies and when the last one from those had dies, it will be the end of my dog business. I felt sorry every time I recalled old memories but my decision was final. Yet rottweilers are very demanding dogs. But one day Miljan Stojanovic called to tell me that he had a couple of dogs with excellent results, and if  I would like to bequeath my kennel to be able to continue to work. In that moment I felt joy and thought that he is the only one who can run the breeding. I knew Miljan since he was a boy, and how much he loves dogs, how he treats them, and his association with my grandson helping him with dogs. I accepted his offer with all pleasure, prepared all necessary papers and put the kennel in his name. Dusan and I wish him all the best because to me it means a lot, at least my efforts were not in vain.
